We had a fantastic time staying at Villa Matta! For a group of 6 (3 couples), the house provided lots of space for everyone and felt very private. The two top upstairs bedrooms and the pool area have gorgeous sea views that look over the church and town, which we were not expecting from the photos. We especially liked the ‘summer kitchen’ which was detached from the main house but was very large and had enough cooking utensils and crockery for our big group. We did however struggle to find firewood for the barbecue anywhere in the area and therefore would suggest bringing some firewood with you if you were coming from Funchal. Villa Matta was perfect, excellent facilities. The villa is high in the mountains in a small village and we couldn't have wished for a nicer place to stay.
